Around 1850 Joseph Béchonnet, a clog-maker by trade in the small village of Effiat in Northern Auvergne, and also an excellent bagpipe maker, was far from imagining that the instrument he had just created was to have such an impact on the piping world 150 years later and well beyond the borders of his native region
